Orchestra Toronto Welcomes New Executive Director

Board of Directors appoints Julianna Cole to oversee its administrative, marketing and planning programs

Toronto, Ontario – November 8, 2022 – Orchestra Toronto (“OT”) is thrilled to announce the Board of Directors has appointed Julianna Cole as its new Executive Director, effective immediately.

“After an extensive search and interview process, it was a unanimous decision to offer Julianna the position,” said Rory Taylor and Melissa Cavelti, Chair and Vice Chair of Orchestra Toronto’s Board of Directors, respectively. “We were impressed with her experience and enthusiasm. She has a fantastic work ethic and professional outlook, which, when combined with her proven success in marketing and relevant administrative experience, will make her an invaluable asset to the entire OT community. As an accomplished opera singer, we know she shares our love of music.”

Julianna Cole has spent her entire career working with arts organizations, including teaching music, both vocal and theory, to children and young adults. She spent several years with the Shaw Festival working as the Stewardship & Administrative Officer and, more recently, worked as a Development Officer with both the Soulpepper Theatre and Opera Canada Publications. In addition to working with donors and acting as a Board liaison, Julianna has extensive experience overseeing all administration, marketing and strategic planning programs. Julianna received a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University, as well as Diplomas in Children’s Studies, Teaching Skills for Educators and Educational Psychology, and a ARCT Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music Canada in Classical Voice.

“The more I learned about Orchestra Toronto, the more impressed I was with the quality of product produced and the depth of talent at this organization,” said Julianna Cole. “I am so excited to be a key part of Orchestra Toronto and working to reach more people so we can share that talent with the surrounding community.”
