The Great Big Open Orchestra
Culture Days September 27, 2019

Dust off that clarinet! Tune up your trombone! Anyone with an instrument can join the orchestra for a day of music making, in the lobby of the Meridian Arts Centre. For Culture Days 2019, Music Director Michael Newnham and the musicians of Orchestra Toronto partnered with TOLive to bring the Orchestra out of the concert hall, and open it up to anyone who wants to play great symphonic music, in the lobby of the Meridian Arts Centre.
Orchestra members and members of the public joined to read through some of history’s most enduring and popular orchestral works, including works by Verdi, Mussorgski, Strauss, and Schubert. Over 80 people joined together to create a joyful symphonic sound.
