This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about community arts and music. We have a few vacancies coming up on our board and are seeking an individuals with marketing, fundraising, and digital media experience who will assist us in meeting our strategic and financial goals for at least the next two performance seasons.

Orchestra Toronto is committed to reflecting and engaging with Toronto’s diversity and to being an equitable, inclusive arts organization. We actively encourage members of equity-seeking groups to bring their experience and perspectives to our Board.

Overview

In the coming year our board will help tackle exciting initiatives such as:

  • Collaborating and setting the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan
  • Exploring opportunities for expansion
  • Increasing outreach in the community through our programs
  • Increasing internal organizational effectiveness
  • Long-term planning and visioning beyond 2021

Role Description and Commitment

Play a key role in shaping this historic organization that has served the City of Toronto for over 65 years! The required commitments for a Board Member are as follows:

  • The ability to serve for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Attendance at monthly board meetings in person or online
  • Attendance at all Orchestra Toronto performances and fund-raising events
  • Serving on the Board and one or more of its sub-committees
  • Representing and advocating for Orchestra Toronto

The Nomination Committee is particularly interested in candidates with experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Marketing and sales
  • Fundraising development
  • Graphic design and web editing
  • Event planning
  • Media relations

Qualifications

  • A passion for community arts and music
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Professional experience in a relevant field
  • Previous not-for-profit and/or board experience is an asset
  • Ability to devote the time necessary to perform the responsibilities of a Board member
