Also on the program is Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Petite Suite de Concert, a charming and lyrical work full of warmth, wit, and rhythmic vitality. This suite reflects the composer's gift for melodic writing and his flair for orchestral colour.
Don't miss this bold conclusion to the season - a celebration of orchestral storytelling, virtuoso performance, and unforgettable soundscapes!
Orchestra Toronto's season finale promises a night of drama, brilliance, and virtuosity. Anchored by Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, this concert takes listeners on a powerful journey through obsession, delirium, and fantasy. One of the most influential works of the 19th century, Symphonie Fantastique is a vivid, emotional narrative told entirely through music, from tender dreams to a wild witches' sabbath.
Canadian double bass virtuoso Joel Quarrington joins the orchestra for Nino Rota's Divertimento Concertante, a rare showcase for the double bass as a solo instrument. Best known for his film scores, Rota's piece is cinematic, playful, and deeply expressive - a perfect match for Quarrington's artistry and flair.
